The Girls' Brigade formed at Sandymount, Ireland by Miss Margaret Lyttle. Its aim "the extension of Christ's Kingdom among girls"   
1900
 The Girls' Guildry formed in Scotland with the aim of helping girls to become mature Christian women 
1902
  The Girls' Life Brigade formed in England. The motto was "to save life" and the aim "to help and encourage girls become responsible, self-reliant Christian women"
1909
Adopted motto "Onward and Upward"
1923

HRH Duchess of York (later to become Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother) became the Patron to The Girls' Guildry

First overseas company formed in Jamaica by Mrs Olive Miller (nee Wright)

Companies formed in Capetown, South Africa and Riga, Latvia (closed in 1935)
1927
Companies formed in Singapore and Australia

1968
The inaugural meeting of Brigade International Council was held on the 10th June and was attended by 19 countries. Miss Joan Chenhalls MBE was elected as the first President and the International Award was started.
1970
Work began in Brunei

Work began in Haiti
1972
The Pacific Fellowship Council met in New Zealand
1973
The Brigade International Conference and Fonomarae were held in New Zealand. Mrs Margaret O'Rourke was elected as the second President and Ghana, Grand Cayman and Samoa were accepted as full members. The Atlantic and Pacific Committees were formed. Work began in Uganda and the Cook Islands.
1974

Work began in USA, Belize and Aruba

1975
The Pacific Fellowship Council met in Fiji
1976
Work began in India and Bangladesh
1977
The Margaret O'Rourke scholarship was established after Mrs O'Rourke's death.
 The Pacific Council Fellowship met in New Zealand
1978
The third Brigade International Conference was held in Grand Cayman. Mrs Tay Poh Luan was elected as the third President
1979
The Pacific Fellowship Fonomarae was held in Perth, Australia with the Fellowship Conference held in New Zealand
1980
The International Fonomarae was held in Scotland. Work began in Brazil
1983
The fourth Brigade International Conferece was held in Singapore. Mrs Elizabeth Nicoll OBE MA was elected as the fourth President and the Cook Islands were accepted as a full member. The first Caribbean Conference was held in Jamaica.
1984
The Asia-Pacific Committee office was set up in Auckland, New Zealand.
1985
The Pacific Fellowship Conference was held in New Zealand
1986
The second Caribbean Conference was held in Trinidad & Tobago
1988
The fifth Brigade International Conferece was held in the Cook Islands. Miss Betty Allen AM was elected as the fifth President and Niue and Bahamas/Turks/Caicos were accepted as full members. The International Office moved to Norfolk, England.
1989
The third Caribbean Conference was held in the Bahamas
1990
Work began in Botswana, Romania and Swaziland. The Brigade was reformed in the USA
1991
Zambia was accepted as a full member. Ireland and Northern Ireland became two separate members
1992
The first All Africa Conference was held in Zambia. The fourth Caribbean Conference was held in the Cayman Islands. Kenya, Hong Kong, St Kitts and Trinidad and Tobago were accepted as full members. Work began in Tonga.
1993
The sixth Brigade International Conference was held in Dublin, Ireland. Mrs Iva Good was elected as the sixth President. Centenary celebrations were held world-wide. Bermuda was accepted as a full member.
1994
Fifth Caribbean Conference in Antigua.
1995
Second All Africa Conference in Kenya. British Virgin Islands accepted as full member. Work began in Ramallah and in Thailand.
1996
Sixth Caribbean Conference held in Bermuda.
1997
Third All Africa Conference in Zimbabwe.
1998
The seventh Brigade International Conference was held in Brisbane, Australia. Mrs Jill Clarke was elected as the seventh President. The structure of Girls' Brigade International changed. Atlantic and Pacific Committees ceased to exist. International Fellowships began - 5 Fellowships - Africa, Asia, Caribbean & Americas, Europe and Pacific.
1999
The International President's Committee met in Johannesburg, South Africa.
2000

The International President's Committee met in Glasgow, Scotland.

2001
The International President's Committee met in Boston, USA. The International Office moved to Glasgow, Scotland (June 2001). Tanzania, Malawi, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Tuvalu accepted as full members.
2002
The 8th Brigade International Conference was held in Thailand. Miss Hee Piang Chin was elected as the 8th President. Mrs Jill Clarke, CNZM - appointed International Vice Patron.
2003
The International President's Committee met in Singapore.
2004
The International President's Committee met at IHQ, Glasgow. The International Fonomarae was held in Glasgow, Scotland.
2005
The International President's Committee met in Livingstone, Zambia.
2006
The 9th International Conference was held in Coleraine, Northern Ireland. Mrs Ruth Chikasa (Zambia) elected as 9th International President. Canada and Philippines accepted as full members. Miss Sheena MacFarlane, OBE - appointed International Vice Patron.
2007
International President's Committee met in Auckland, New Zealand. Mrs Masiofo Fetaui Mata'afa - International Vice Patron died November 2007.
2008
Mrs Elizabeth Nicoll, OBE, MA - Past International President and International Vice Patron died 5 July 2008. The International President's Committee met in Boston, USA.
