Prayer
Each year The Girls’ Brigade International sets a theme for the year. In 2011/12 our theme is Cross over - Break Camp - Move on!
Prayer points
GB Africa
- GB Zambia had another tragedy during their rally on 19th August. One of the boys brigade members who joined GB Zambia for their annual rally to provide security at the camp site,
an 18 year old boy, drowned and died. The body was recovered and he was buried on 23rd
August 2011. This comes within three months of another terrible accident. GB Zambia is at the
moment going from strength to strength and this is the devil’s way of derailing their progress
in touching the lives of the girls and young women. Prayers are needed to break the devil’s
power. - Pray for GB Zambia who are in the process of raising funds to build a GB Training Centre and complete their conference hall
- The Africa Fellowship Executive Committee who will meet in Kenya from 15th to 19th November
2011, to plan for the AF Conference and elections in 2012 in Tanzania and the 2013 Girls’
Camp in South Africa.
GB South Africa, as they prepare to host girls and young women from all over the world in 2013. Pray for resources, both human and financial, to be made available. - GB Ghana will be having their annual Officers’ Conference from 1st to 4th September 2011. The
IP and IVP (Africa) will be joining them. Ghana has not been active both at a fellowship and
international level and this visit is to share with them the new vision for GBI and to encourage
them. - There is a meeting for the planning committee for 2013 on 22nd October 2011 in South Africa.
GB Asia
- Pray for Asia Fellowship meeting in Hong Kong from 9th to 11th December 2011.
- Pray for the GB Malaysian Fonomarae in Kuala Lumpur from 16th to 19th December 2011.
GB Europe
- Give thanks for the impact made by 45 members of GB Europe who have been involved in our FIZZ work in Kosovo this Summer and pray for the GB Europe executive as they meet in
October, that they may have a sense of God as they look together at the next steps in our FIZZ
International project. - Please remember the girls and young women in the UK who attend ‘camps’ this summer.
These are often significant times of spiritual development for those that attend. Pray that they
will discover the ‘life to the full’ that comes through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
- GB groups reconvene in September; please pray for those meetings in areas affected by the recent riots in the UK. Particularly for conversations about why these things happen, and how as GB we can bring transformation to places and people damaged by the unrest.
- GB Scotland is opening a new National Centre at Guay this month. Pray that many of the GB
family in Scotland may take time to go and look at the new lodges and that this centre may be
used to the glory of God.
- Pray for Marianne McCafferty as she takes on the role as National President of Scotland at their AGM in September and give thanks for Anne Hosie and for her time as the outgoing President.
- Pray for a positive impact of the launch of E100 Challenge – a book being given to every Brigader in Northern Ireland with 100 essential bible readings, to be read in conjunction with an online community of commentary and interactive comment.
- Pray for the start of Northern Irelands YOUnique year in September – 100% unique 110% for God, starting with the launch of a new scripture course ‘WORTH’ and creative bible teaching workshops in September.
- During September, GB leaders across England and Wales are re-staring their GB groups after
the summer break. Pray that these leaders are encouraged by the new programme materials,
such as n:vestigate and n:gage, pray that they may enable leaders to reach out in mission to
many more children and young people. - Pray for the Establish 18-30s day trip to Bath on 17th September. May it be a time of blessing for the young women coming together to network and have fun with fellow GB members from around the country.
GB Pacific
- Please pray that countries sending representatives to the Pacific Fonomarae in Queenstown, New Zealand in January 2012 are able to get the necessary finances to attend.
- Please pray for Australia and New Zealand as they are seeking direction to move GB forward.
- Please pray for better communication links between the Pacific countries and Pacific Chair.
- Please pray for the planned leaders training in Papua New Guinea in September 2011 and for their initiatives in taking GB out into their communities.
- Please pray for Vanuatu in their endeavours to grow GB into more Churches.
GB Caribbean & Americas
- Pray for the residents of the US eastern coast and GB Bahamas, their leaders and all Bahamians affected by the onslaught of hurricane Irene. We ask for God’s protection, provision
and healing at this time. For GB USA we also ask for continued perseverance in their quest to
strengthen existing companies and reach out. - Pray for GB Cayman national council and for the Cayman East End Company as they work to resume regular meetings in that area and ask that God will supply a team of dedicated leaders
to carry that mission.
- Pray for GB St. Kitts and GB Antigua as they forge ahead with plans for their respective 50th Anniversary celebrations for 2010 in St. Kitts and 2011 in Antigua. In St. Kitts we also pray for their continued mission for renewal particularly as the country faces an on-going fight against the social issues and violence impacting on their youth.
- Pray for GB St. Martin/Marteen as they plan for an October weekend camp, for increased
membership numbers and for their outreach to a new church family which is interested in
opening its own GB Company. Bless the work of the existing GB company which has agreed to
twin with the members of this church as they work to establish a footing in GB. - Pray for revival in GB Dominica and GB St. Vincent. We pray especially for GB St. Vincen who hosted this year’s regional camp amidst many challenges. May God use their exposure to
fellow GB sisters and this year’s time in fellowship as an impetus for growth and revival.
- Prayer and guidance over GB Canada, St Eustatius, Haiti, Bermuda and Montserrat from whom we have not heard for some time, may God forge bridges of fellowship with these areas.
- Prayer for GB British Virgin Islands as they prepare for next year’s Fellowship Conference and hosting of the IPC. May God direct their path and special guidance and coverage to (yours truly) the Fellowship IVP as I prepare to go on maternity leave within the upcoming dayes.
